Chariot excursions

Chariot excursions offer a different way to visit the Maremma Park: with the new chariots which have 20 seats for abled people and 8 seats for disabled people, it's possible to reach various charming locations in the Park.

The silent step of the carthorses gives the possibility to approach the wild fauna and to watch animals without to frighten them. That's valid for maremman cows and maremman horses too.

The chariot is useful to visit particolar itineraries which are far, by walk, from the village of Alberese.

The chariot tour is also good for the birdwatchers who come during the Winter and the Fall; infact it's possible to cover the chariot with a ground cloth and to reach the winter locations of migrant birds with the bad weather too.

Chariot excursions are conclusively 2:

  • Fauna itinerary: where it's possible to watch different vegetal species of the mediterranean maquis. The forest path which goes through the cork oaks (Quercus suber) and Quercus pubescens, is very charming.
  • Gran Duchy Pine Wood itinerary: we go through the Gran Duchy Pine Wood,we reach the caves area until the Collelungo beach. During the run it's possible to meet so many wild boars and deers, and with a bit of good luck, all the other wild animals who live in the mediterranean maquis.

It's possible to participate in Wine and Food Tours, to discover the typical flavours and smells of the Maremma Region. With the collaboration of local producers, visitors can be guests of the farm-houses where it's possible to taste, to buy and to watch the origin of the typical local products.

With the collaboration of official and authorized Partners, it's possible to convert the tour in a didactic tour, to discover the environment, the biology, the botany, the zoology and the ancient activities and uses of the Maremma Region.
